"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8
The Acts 1:8 Challenge for Southern Baptist Churches was officially launched in May 2004. This challenge is a call for Southern Baptist Churches to move to a new level of missions involvement by cooperating with their local Baptist associations, their state conventions, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and International Mission Board (IMB).

Mount Olive Baptist Church (MOBC) has been a part of the Acts 1:8 Challenge for some time. During this program, there have been many mission trips, here and abroad, which has brought the life-saving Gospel to hungry ears.
MOBC works to fulfill the great commission of teaching and making disciples in our city and community, our country and across the globe. The desire of Mount Olive is to create an atmosphere where the call and invitation of God can be heard. God will then empower and mobilize us to respond to urgent needs around the world. We are committed to resource, train, and mobilize "missionaries" both locally and globally. Partnering with the Southern Baptist Convention, the International Mission Board, and various local agencies, we envision mobilizing our members to be concerned about missions in our community and around the world. As a member of Mount Olive, you will be challenged to grow in your intercession, involvement, and investment in missions. Our goal is for every born again, believing, maturing disciple be involved in missions. Pray now about joining those who are responding to God's call to share the Good News of Jesus in Knoxville and around the world.

Mount Olive Baptist Church Mission Opportunities

 Our "Judea" (National Missions)

MOBC has been involved with many disaster relief teams in the aftermath of natural disasters. We have traveled to Gautier, MS and the Gulf states that have suffered from Hurricane Katrina. During these visits, our teams have basically helped the community with construction needs in the area.

Our "Samaria" (World Missions)
By traveling to Brazil and Romania, evangelism is accomplished through Vacation Bible Schools, Sports Outreach, Door-to-Door evangelism and prayer walks, worship and revival services. MOBC members have been involved with various construction projects which involve stucco, flooring ceiling work and painting.
