Update:
These really are hard and difficult days in which we live. Wars and threats cause us to fear. But we can be so thankful that we may enjoy the strength and the love of our Heavenly Father who knows all things, and he path He wants us to follow.
The past few months have been very hard for Special Ministries. The teams work in Kenya has been so helpful in the Hope Centers, and our people are very thankful for all that has been done. I have been rejoicing too, in the joy of seeing progress in the lives of our children. In America, we have been busy taking part in missionary conferences, and keeping up with the work in the office. It is such a joy to be in the service of the Lord. Together we have done great things in Kenya! I watched our children in many different ways: in stature, in health, in knowledge, and in a closer walk with the Lord. Without our sponsors and donors, this could never have happened. As members of the board and I traveled to every Hope Center in September, we also saw huge changes in fathers and mothers and other adults who were close to us every day. People in the Hope Centers are learning some important lessons and growing in their faith. More and more they are sharing with family and friends what God is doing. All of us stood in awe of what is happening in response to your help and prayers.
Please pray for our ministry and support us as God leads....

In 1984, East Africa experienced wide-spread drought and famine conditions which resulted in the loss of crops and animals on which the people depend for life. Marilyn Newman and her husband, Arnold, serving as missionaries in Africa for 45 years, had experienced the value of the concentrated efforts of pastors, staff, and lay workers in accomplishing the task of meeting special needs in such a time. She also knew what can be accomplished when local people in the villages share the responsibility of recovery. In answer to prayer, and in His Wisdom, God brought about the concept of Hope Centers that would help in the spiritual, physical, and mental needs of children and their families. Mission teams from churches in America joined with Kenya teams to raise funds for building churches, clinics, and schools in areas where the need was greatest.
